Sleeping in a wooden house in the mountain stream and entering a room full of refreshing water
This time, I stayed in Zhangjiajie for three nights, hiding in Harmona Resort & Spa Zhangjiajie. I didn't rush to the popular scenic spots, but stayed in a single wooden house in the mountains. I really realized that good holiday accommodation is never a pile of expensive equipment, but a piece of mountain stream spirit in Wulingyuan National Scenic Spot, which is properly integrated into every second of your daily life.
The single family wooden house I chose by the creek was immediately enveloped in the aroma of natural wood as soon as I opened the door. The whole house was built with native wood without any unnecessary industrial decoration. The light wood colored walls were paired with soft furnishings of coarse linen texture, and even the sound of footsteps on the floor was reduced. The 45 square meter space is arranged along the mountain shape, with floor to ceiling glass facing the stream in front of the door. The mountain breeze passes through the room, carrying the coolness of the stream water around the room. Even the air conditioning is not turned on, and the whole room is filled with a natural and refreshing atmosphere. The most wonderful thing is waking up in the morning and the mountain mist seeping in through the window, soaking half of the room in milky white mist. When I open my eyes, I can't tell if I'm inside or standing by the mountain stream.
The sleep experience exceeded expectations completely. The customized cotton and linen bedding has a fluffy feeling after being exposed to sunlight, and the soft and non collapsing support just dissolves the soreness and swelling of the legs and feet after a whole day of hiking. There is no traffic noise in the city, only the tinkling sound of streams and the gentle sound of mountain winds passing through the bamboo sea at night. Even someone like me who suffers from insomnia all year round can sleep until dawn. The wicker lounge chair by the window was a pleasant surprise, wrapped in a thin blanket and nestled on it, with a freshly brewed Zhangjiajie berry tea at hand. Watching the sunlight outside the window break through the bamboo leaves into light spots and fall onto the stream, even time was slow enough to almost stop.
The design of the independent bathroom is fully suitable for the needs of mountain vacations, using fully transparent floor to ceiling glass. Pulling up the curtain allows you to take a bath while enjoying the mountain scenery outside the window. 24-hour constant temperature hot water is drawn from mountain streams and springs. Soaking in the warm water, you can see clouds floating on the distant mountain peaks, and even your exhaustion is dissolved in the water. The bathroom supplies are a customized herbal series from the hotel, with a faint scent of mugwort and bamboo. After taking a shower, the whole room is filled with a light woody atmosphere, completely devoid of the pungent sensation of ordinary hotel toiletries. There is also a free local kudzu root soap placed beside the washbasin, which is an old recipe from Zhangjiajie Mountain. After washing, the face will be moisturized and not be stretched by the mountain wind.
The small courtyard that comes with the wooden house hides a unique sense of comfort. Sitting on a small stool in the courtyard at night, you can look up and see the entire starry sky, without the light pollution of the city. The Milky Way is so clear that you can reach out and touch it. The hotel also placed free local snacks on the stone tables in the courtyard in advance, freshly steamed corn and roasted sweet potatoes, to be enjoyed in the mountain breeze, more satisfying than any exquisite afternoon tea.
After staying for three nights, there are no unnecessary facilities, and every detail follows the rhythm of the mountains, delivering the most relaxed sense of living to you. I used to think that coming to Zhangjiajie was just to clock in at the scenic spot. This time, I learned that spending time in such a wooden house and sleeping in a clean room is the best way to open Wulingyuan National Scenic Spot. This time I came to Zhangjiajie to avoid the hustle and bustle of homestays around the scenic area, and chose to stay at Harmona Resort & Spa Zhangjiajie. After staying for three nights, I realized that there was no need to squeeze into crowds to rush to the scenic spot. Pushing open the window, I could catch the softest mountain fog in Zhangjiajie, and even the wind was wrapped in the unique clear and refreshing atmosphere of the mountains and forests.
The hotel is hidden in the deep valley of Wulingyuan National Scenic Spot, 20 minutes' drive from the south gate of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. The winding mountain road along the way turns around the mountain, and the bamboo sea on both sides is layered. Just turning into the exclusive lane of the hotel, the dry heat in the city is swept away by the mountain wind. The gatekeeper, dressed in Tujia ethnic costumes, greeted and handed over a cup of cool and sweet Ge Gen tea as soon as he took the luggage. The clear and sweet taste slid down his throat, and the exhaustion of the journey was greatly relieved. When checking in, the receptionist smiled and reminded me that the mountain fog at 6:30 in the morning would cover the lake surface of the hotel, so there was no need to wake up early to rush to the mountaintop. I could watch the whole scene of fog rising and falling from the balcony of my room.
When I opened the door of my single wooden house with mountain view, it crashed into the nature. The whole house was built of logs. There was a sea of bamboos outside the landing window. The mountain fog in the morning crept through the window and wrapped the whole room soft. There were no unnecessary electronic devices to disturb, and the wicker sofa by the window was just enough to hold the book I had brought. I snuggled inside and flipped through a few pages, with only the rustling sound of the mountain breeze passing through the bamboo leaves and the tinkling sound of the distant stream in my ears. Even the notification sound of my phone seemed particularly abrupt. The bedding is made of cotton and linen texture, soft and not collapsing. Listening to the sound of mountains at night makes one fall asleep, and even dreams are refreshing, without the insomnia troubles in the city.
The most surprising experience was the hotel's hiding in the mountains and forests. Walking along the hotel's exclusive trail up the mountain, you can catch wild squirrels darting by along the way. The observation deck halfway up the mountain can overlook the entire valley, and you don't have to squeeze into the popular observation deck in Zhangjiajie to capture a panoramic view of the deserted mountain scenery. There is a natural temperature controlled swimming pool hidden in the private cave of the hotel. The water is directly drawn from mountain springs. After swimming two laps and landing, the nearby rest area is also prepared with hot Tujia oil tea. The moment it warms up to the stomach, even the coolness of the mountain dissipates. The dishes in the restaurant are all local mountain and wild flavors, including freshly picked bamboo shoots, Tujia cured meat, and soft stewed chicken. You can enjoy all the unique flavors of Zhangjiajie without leaving the hotel.
After staying for three nights, I didn't even catch up with a few popular attractions, but it was closer to the background of this mountain than any previous visit to Zhangjiajie. In the morning, I watched the mountain mist spreading over the lake from the balcony. In the evening, I took a walk along the lake and watched the sunset dye the bamboo sea golden. At night, I sat in the small courtyard outside the wooden house and watched the stars. Even the rare Milky Way in the city was clearly within reach. The best experience in Zhangjiajie is never to clock in among crowds, but to stay in a hotel hidden in the valley and let the mountain mist slowly envelop you.
